After carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning is our second most popular residential consumer service. It is also another service in which VCRS have significant qualifications. Our Technical Director, Adam Jankowski, in addition to his other teaching qualifications is only one of two IICRC instructors in the UK teaching the internationally recognised IICRC Upholstery Cleaning Technician syllabus. All our VCRS technicians are IICRC certified in upholstery cleaning.

Water based methods:

  • Hot Water Extraction Method - often called "steam" cleaning although this is an inaccurate term
  • Shampoo Method - mechanical or by hand method (minimal moisture)
  • Dry Foam Method - mechanical or by hand method (minimal moisture)
  • Dry Compound Method - rarely used "least wet" method (minimal moisture)

Solvent (dry) cleaning based methods:

  • Dry Clean Extraction
  • Dry Hand Cleaning

Combination method:

  • Dry-Wet-Dry - A technique designed to protect fabric effects where dyes may be fugitive

It should be noted that upholstery fabrics should be cleaned regularly e.g. every 18-24 months (subject to use) to ensure the best possible appearance for the longest possible proportion of the total life of the fabric (reference source IICRC S300 Standard).

All VCRS "allclean" technicians are IICRC trained and qualified in upholstery cleaning.
